Space to grow
I have blogged on and off for years, and written more words in notebooks and diaries than I care to think about. I am fascinated by the journey we go on as creatives and the iterations of self as we move through time.
Ready for what comes next
I am on the cusp of a developmental wave. About to turn 50, coming through the end of a 25 year marriage and letting go of the mothering years. Menopause is providing a bumpy ride but also a chance to re-evaluate all areas of my life.
I am an artist, tutor and mid-life mentor. I am an empath and an introvert. I am a curious gatherer of experiences and small things. I collect moments.
If you build it they will come
In this space I want to share how I approach my creative life, the experience behind the art I produce at www.helenhallows.com
I apply creative-thinking and sensory, holistic living to feed myself so I can translate my art from lived experience. I seek out the deeper conversations and connections with those who are makers, artisans, artists, philosophers and writers.
What you can expect
What I want to offer you is insight and tools for breaking down your own personal barriers to growth and channel your self-expression through art, writing and living.
I find writing as a tool a great way for self-reflection and distilling what is important. I plan to share a post each week (Friday is the plan) and hope you benefit from seeing into my brain!
Where I write
On a Friday I go here to write. It is a sanctuary away from home. Committing to this lets me honour the part of my self that benefits from writing.
Leaning into the vulnerability
This has been what has been holding me back - a fear of saying out loud (or writing down) my own truth. There is vulnerability in sharing the ruptures, in being authentic and expressing with integrity.
I hope you will be kind with me and with yourself and remember that the wildflowers grow in the cracks.
Good to see you here Helen.
